Mercedes-Benz Parts Manager
Meet our Parts Manager, Gary Hubbard. Gary heads our dedicated parts team, suppling Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts direct to our customers, to our service department for customer vehicles, and to the wider network of authorised Mercedes-Benz parts and service centres across the region.
Gary took a short break from his busy schedule to answer a few questions.

What's your role at Mercedes-Benz North Shore?
I am the Parts Manager and take care of all of our parts and accessories inventory for supplying to customers, our workshop, and to panel repairers. We achieve this by carefully stocking and selling the correct parts to meet demand and the requirements of our teams. We have a great system to swiftly purchase our non-stocked genuine parts direct from Singapore and Germany for efficient service.
-
When did you join the dealership?
I joined in September 2012, having previously worked for BMW. It was the best decision I've made in my career.

What can you tell us about Mercedes-Benz parts that we may not know?
Located on a peninsula on the Rhine in the heart of Europe is an island that covers a total of over 1.7 million square metres (around 250 football fields) that houses Daimler's Global Logistics Centre. With over 1 million square feet of warehouse pace, this is the world's largest automotive parts distribution centre. It's home for over 420,000 different individual part numbers for Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, smart and Fuso. The parts that are stored here cater not only to the current model range, but to anything up to 15 years! 2,800 people are employed by the centre, and 300 trucks collect around 1,500 tons of parts from them every day to dispatch to more than 160 countries! Pretty impressive.

What's your most popular Mercedes-Benz vehicle accessory?
For our SUV range it would definitely be our Genuine Towbars, purpose made for our Mercedes-Benz vehicles for maximum safety and longevity. We also sell a lot of key rings to match our customers' chosen Mercedes-Benz model.

You can have one Mercedes-Benz for the rest of your life, what would it be?
For the road, it would be a black 2016 C 63 AMG... but my dream vehicle would be a 1994 190e DTM Touring Car!

What are your interests and hobbies?
I love my Vodafone Warriors; I've been a passionate fan since 1995. I played Rugby League from the age of 5 until I was 19, but an injury stopped me from competing. I do still play touch rugby and also help my son's basketball team, though. I follow the V8 Supercars intensely. My favourite driver would be Mark Winterbottom and - of course - all the Kiwi drivers! I also collect and build model cars and have a collection of roughly 35 cars.
